Burj Khalifa is also known as the Khalifa tower. Named during the construction of Burj Dubai, was named to honor the leader of the neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa Ibn Zayed AL Nahyan.  This tower which took six years to be constructed was designed by Chicago-based architectural firm Skidmore, Owing, and Merrill, the firm that designed the sear tower of Chicago. Formally launched in January 2010, the building has remained the tallest building in the world, housing a variety of commercial, residential, and hospitability ventures. The tower has 162 floors and a height of 2717 feet (828meters).  This building houses a hotel and luxury residences designed by Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, in addition to office space, observation decks, restaurants, and health facilities.
